| War has started, but only a few are watching! (China-Japan) |

The impact of the US Japan Security cooperation on the future of China and Taiwan is far-reaching and deep. For the first time, three of the world's top economies (US being #1, Japan #2 and Taiwn (between 10th and 14th, depending on analysis) are aligned strategically to form a pact. This means that China must now deal not with one (Taiwan) or two (Taiwan & US or Japan) but three powerful entities together in regards to its negotiation with Taiwan. It also mean that China's persistent threat of force to unite the Island of Taiwan and its 24 millions people is ineffective. Already, President Chen, its support base and overwhelming number of Taiwanese youths are promoting a referendum to draft a new consitution, greater recognition of Taiwan in international organizations and the change of ROC to Republic of Taiwan. All these developments are threatening to the leadership in Beijing. President Hu and his cohorts in the Communist Party are engaged in a 'divide and conquer' strategy to slow down the push for greater democratization and independence in Taiwan. By offering carot with stick tatics, they are trying very hard to swing the momentum away from President Chen and the pro-independence camp. Nevertheless, the CCPC is not anything but practical and understands well that time and the unstoppable current for freedom are against them. As they are starting political dialogue with opposition parties from Tawian, CCPC is also undertaking covert actions against Taiwan. Using spys, cooperative agents and influencers, the CCPC is targeting political, economic and social figures and organizations. For those familiar with the intelligence community, the external branch of China's State Security Apparatus or the CIA, war has already started. Battles are now being waged not with missles or ships but with information and the capabilities to seed operatives in sensitive positions across opposing lines. It's very much akin to a game of chess where each player is maneuvering its attacking pieces in strategic locations, preparing to land the fatal blow. Chinese is a master of deception and guile; it will be interesting to find out which side, the Communist leadership or the newly formed US-Japan-Taiwn alliance, will prevail.
